People will notice a new section in place for Jesse Hammons' field recordings. As is the case for Democracy Now, think of the items just as temporary "houseguests" of the LMA for a few months(?) while archive.org folks build them new room(s) in the Audio area.

I know we had extensive discussion about DN being placed here, and I'd like to forestall another round of that. ;) Thanks!

ah yes good point... I believe there should be no reason he shouldn't be able to stay away from mp3's and if for some reason he isn't familiar with SHN or Flac I am sure folks would be willing to atleast help him learn or do some conversions for him. I wouldn't mind to do some of it.

Please define feild recordings ? like when I take my mics & DAT out in to nature and record ambiant sounds ? or when we find some interesting natural sound ? I do this for my Drummer & Keyboard player to sample and playback live..

They are sounds of "everyday life" and I've just added an extra quote to the policy page on that.

Dang, I had hoped to forestall a discussion of the mp3 aspect here too but then forgot to put that in my "houseguest" post as I was writing. Perhaps other audio archives would end up being different in format than the LMA section. Until that stage gets closer, I propose we temporarily table debate and be tolerant of the various differences in our "guest" items. Thanks!
